Dubai: RTA’s 120th plate auction features rare AA and BB super numbers
Registration opens with limited seating for bidders
DUBAI – The Roads and Transport Authority is set to place 90 distinctive vehicle plate numbers under the hammer later this month, offering collectors and motorists a fresh opportunity to secure some of Dubai’s most coveted registrations.
The selection spans 2, 3, 4 and 5-digit numbers across multiple plate codes, with several rare combinations expected to draw strong interest. The sale will form part of the authority’s 120th Open Auction, scheduled for Saturday, December 27.
Among the standout lots are the super numbers AA 25, BB 12 and BB 30, which headline the catalogue for this auction. These premium plates are being offered alongside other distinctive numbers from the codes AA, BB, CC, K, N, O, R, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z, providing bidders with a wide range of options across different formats and digit lengths.
Auction details
The auction will take place at the Al Joud Ballroom in Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City, with proceedings set to begin at 4:30 pm. Registration for participants will open earlier in the week on Monday, December 22, allowing bidders several days to complete the required formalities ahead of the sale.
RTA has confirmed that seating at the venue will be limited and prioritised for registered auction participants. Prospective bidders are therefore encouraged to complete their registration as early as possible to secure access to the hall. For those who have not registered in advance, on-site registration will also be available at the auction venue from 2:00 pm on the day of the sale.
Registration process
Interested participants can register through multiple official channels, including RTA’s website, the RTA Dubai App, or by visiting Customer Happiness Centres located in Umm Ramool, Deira and Al Barsha. All bidders must hold an active traffic file in the Emirate of Dubai to be eligible to take part in the auction.
As part of the registration requirements, bidders are required to submit a refundable security deposit cheque of Dh25,000, made payable to RTA. In addition, a non-refundable registration fee of Dh120 applies. Payments can be completed at the Customer Happiness Centres or electronically by credit card via RTA’s website or mobile application.
Payment terms
RTA has also reminded participants that the sale of vehicle plate numbers is subject to a five percent value-added tax, which will be added to the final bid amount. Successful bidders are expected to settle payments in line with the authority’s standard auction procedures following the conclusion of the sale.
The 120th Open Auction is part of RTA’s long-running programme of offering distinctive number plates to the public, a process that has consistently attracted strong interest from collectors, businesses and motorists seeking unique registrations.
